Brave Hearts on the Murray Inc.

Brave Hearts on the Murray mission is to support and provide assistance with the health and wellbeing of individuals and their families affected by cancer. Numerous projects have being successfully undertaken and are still financially supported by the group including a local wig library, Dragon Boat Building Project, Celebration Rose Garden, Pamper Days, Consumer Days etc.

Border Wellness Circle


The Border Wellness Circle is designed as a complementary therapy support program for women with cancer. It is modelled from the Oliva Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne.The program runs on the 1st & 3rd Thursday in the month, 11.00am to 3.00pm at the Murray Valley Private Hospital

Brave Heart Dragon Boat Club

This club offers anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis of any form along with their family & friends to participate in the wonderful sport of dragon boating between September and April. Dragon boating is a safe non-contact sport and a great way to develop fitness, make great friends and have loads of fun on and off the water. Both leisure paddling and training sessions are held at the Gateway Lakes, Wodonga.

The Albury Wodonga Stoma Support Group meets at 10.00 am on the second Tuesday of each month from February to December at Hilltop Accommodation Centre, 600 Keene Street Albury. The group is opened to those who have a stoma which is not only for bowel cancer but for a variety of other reasons.

Brave Hearts Wig Library

The Brave Hearts Wig Library is located at the Albury Wodonga Cancer Wellness Centre. It provides modern, fashionable wigs for hire at an extremely affordable price to any female that has been diagnosed with cancer in our region. The library is financially supported by Brave Hearts On The Murray and is operated by volunteers. The library is open 2pm to 4pm each Tuesday and Thursday. Alternatively phone the Brave Hearts Wig Coordinator to arrange an appointment.

Wellness Centre

The Wellness Centre aims to provide support and services to all people who have an association cancer, including family, friends and staff.

It offers a quiet space where people can just sit and relax, or find a friendly face to chat and seek out further information and advice.

It offers a range of therapies which aim to complement the medical treatment provided at the cancer centre. Some examples of these include oncology massage, mindfulness and meditation, counselling and gentle exercise programs.

These sorts of services have been shown to alleviate stress, relieve symptoms and reduce pain and anxiety, as well as promote feelings of wellbeing in cancer patients.
